Well I started this course feeling that I can do this then I found RSS feeds oh my god I struggled with them and Wikis. I found the instructions somehow confused what it was you were supposed to do. So I started the dreaded week 6 Delicious, Tagging and Library Thing well I didn't read the instructions and found them so easy so I did that with the remaining weeks and after I had completed the tasks went back and read the whole thing.
I have struggled with some concepts and found others easy we have talked alot about different aspects of this course during lunch breaks and tea breaks. I have struggled with the instructions with a lot of them I find them too technical or as if you already know. They take you so far but the last step is like you should know how to finish it but not everyone is like that. The instructions should be in plain english and dot points for those of us who have no idea. While I whinged and complained and asked lots of dumb questions I must take time out and acknowledge Fred Adrian and Lawley who have listened and helped me along the way you guys rock as I would never have done half of this with out you explaining those things that I found to be goobleydock, Thanks again and YAY I think I have finished for for now.
tìoraidh for now

YAY Week 10
Well I am finally at the last week and it's Geocaching out of all the things we have learnt in this course I don't think this is quite right for a library . While I found it interesting i am not convinced that it would be good for our library. We have blogs and podcasts as well as the facebook page and twitter oh and don't forget the RSS feeds and how could you not mention the Library thing and delicious but we don't have geocaching. I don't think we have any use for this but then I am not a technician or computer expert so what I think might not be a good idea might get implimented it all depends on the demand for things from our clients. Oh well now for my wrap up rant and I'm all done thank god oh except I have a few comments to go but hopefully I'll be finished on the weekend.

Podcasts
Podcasts mmmmm are they useful to libraries? Well in a way I guess they are as your clients can listen to them from home and be kept up to date with what is going on at your library. It's just another form of communication through some kind of media outlet.
During this course I have learnt alot of stuff that I will probably never use again but if I need to I can show people how to listen to a podcast on my libraries website and thus keeping them up to date with whats going on. I don't subscribe to any podcasts but if I was to listen to one it would be from the radio. Oh well I have no more to say on this one.

Meat Loaf "Black Betty"
I have chosen his Meatloaf clip as my You Tube Video as I think he does Black Betty well. I have seen many concerts and still think that his Bat Out of Hell concert was the best. The giant inflatable Bat was great as was the cars and motorbikes that he drove or rode onto stage for the different songs.
I found embeding video's easy to a point I still think that the instructions are not very clear they get you to a point and then you are to figure out the last steps yourself. While this is all well and good if you have a mind for all things technological, alas that is not me I need all the information in plain english. I still find if I read all the stuff before the tasks I am totally confused by it all but if I do the tasks before I read it I find the tasks relatively easy. Well not long to go and I have finished this training I don't know if I am any smarter now than when I started I have learnt a lot of stuff but I will probably never use any of it again.

Week 7 Facebook and Twitter
This week we are supposed to explore Facebook and Twitter well I can't facebook anyone until my facebook account is restored as my delightful son instead of getting his own facebook account was using mine. My son works away at sea and doesn't usually have any internet reception but this time was different, usually he uses it to just catch up with what the family is doing back here, check out photos of his niece and nephew and whatever we are doing at home not to chat to everyone but that was what he was doing this time, Jay messaged me "Oops sorry mum your facebook account is disabled but on the bright side I have started my own." Yay Jay now I have to wait til they reinstate it. (message to self don't use the same password for everything as everyone who knows you knows it).
Our library uses facebook to advertise events that are coming up in the library. It is a good way to stay in touch.
Twitter I know it is the same as facebook status updates but I don't think I'll ever be a twitterer as having a facebook account (when its not disabled) is enough as I don't update my status on there so why do I want yet another account and password that I need to remember. If you are that way inclined then all well and good. I'm not so after this week of twittering I'll never use it again. So if at the end of this week I change my mind about twittering I'll add to my post but I don't think that's gonna happen.
I started this course with 1 work email 1 home email and facebook account I now have a GMail account Rss feeds in google reader some wiki-wet pain account delicious and library thing now Twitter I'm all passworded out Oh and we have the BLOG as well lord I'm never going to remember everything oh well til next time.............................................................
Ooops forgot to include my Twitter name its bugglesbambi.

The dreaded week 6
Well I started week 6 and started with Delicious well I must say I found it quite easy so easy that I thought I had done it wrong. I had to go and ask someone if I had done it correctly and low and behold I had.
My link to the delicious page is my delicious tags.
Library thingy was just as easy. I don't think I will ever use either of these personally aagain I don't really have time to keep it up. I still have to add the widget thing to my blog for Library thing and when I work out how to I will post it.
Oh well on to week 7 and facebook and twitter.
Well I have to add to this blog as it doesn't have the correct amount of words. God what to say there isn't much you can say about Delicious and Library Thing you either find them useful or you don't. While I find the idea of these things good I for one wouldn't bother with using them at home as my life is too busy with work or family. I don't use the computer at home much so updating either of these websites would never be done. I rely on our computers at work to let me know if I have had a book before so that I don't re-read it. I find it useful when patrons tell me what they have read nad enjoyed and if it's something might enjoy I either reserve it or get it off the shelf, so my use for either thing isn't very high. Hopefully this is enough words for this blog as I am all out of them.

Wikis rant
Wikis my thoughts on this subject are mmmmm not very good sorry I am feeble minded and none of this techno stuff makes any sense to me and if I get through this with my sanity in tact all well and good but I don't think that will happen RSS feeds hurt my head and Wikis are doing the same Fred said week 6 was confusing Oh my god here I was at the start thinking it wasn't too bad hahahahaha what a joke it's got more difficult as the weeks go on. Its ok if you are technologically minded but alas that is not me my mind does not compute RSS feeds Wikis Delicious and whatever else we need to do well I will end this blog here for the moment and try to get my head around Wikis and wet paint (whatever that is) might have a vodka and see if it makes any more sense after a drink, but I might watch a bit of tv too mmmmmmm wikis what wikis.
Well 3 days after I started this blog I can finish it hopefully. I have added to the wiki, I read 3 of the wikis we were supposed to. Found them to be not my cup of tea but I suppose it would be hard to find wikis that would be interesting to everyone and keep it on a small scale. So this hopefully is my one and only time that I will add to a wiki. So for now i say goodbye and I'm off to see what surprises are at week 6 oh god help me I think that is the week Fred said is confusing................ til next time
